DUTIES. To teach to boys of Chinese or other race the subjects required in ordinary element- ary or 2ndary work.

QUALIFICATIONS. Essential 1. An Baglish Grady- ate. Important. 2.A trained teacher. 5 A know- ledge of phonetics.

lat. 3 years on probation at £500,

Then £360-£550 by 4 annual increments of £10, and annual increments of £16.

3. Allowances, quarters and other cir- cumstances affecting the value of the Office.

Private tuition by consent of the Head of his Department.

4. Nature, number and amount of secu- rities required, and mode of giving them.

5. Whether free passage is provided for the person selected and his family.

d. Acts, Laws or Ordinances, making

provision respecting any of the above! matters, and especially respecting the permanency of the emoluments and the particulars of the security requir ed, with references to the sections in which such provision is made.

7. Whether house accommodation is available or readily procurable, whe- ther furniture, etc. should be brought from England, and any other parti- culars of a like nature likely to be useful for the information of candi- lates.

2nd.class in mail steamer or via Siberia; or lat.class in 'outside' boat, on engagement; & the return passage at end of 3 years, if the engagement is not renewed for other reasons than misconduct. A return passage will also be provided before the expiration of 3 years, 'if he ta incapacitated from further service by mental or physical disability.
